Loveable mascot Cyril the Swan is defiantly refusing to have a DBS check completed, it has emerged.

Cyril was due to play an important role in Swansea City's school engagement initiative, but his refusal to complete a vital check on his record is holding the project up.

Cyril said: "We all have a past and I just think that's where it should stay.

"I'm not a danger to kids, apparently Martin Morgan eats children and he doesn't have to have a check done.

"Look, there may have been a time where I became a little over-excited in Brynmill park and broke an OAP's leg with my wing, but who hasn't?

"The police may or may not have been called when I carried out a mating dance with Sybil in front of a group of Bishop Gore pupils. Who knows? That's my past.

"I've never cheated on Sybil, we're loyal creatures and a lot more loyal than Premier League footballers have ever been.

"I was caught selling crack to teenagers though."
