A man who drives around Swansea in an Audi TT that's only marginally younger than his latest girlfriend, is convinced he's some sort of big shot.
32 year old insurance salesman Pete Bowen from West Cross cruises the city listening to 'Garage Classics Vol. 3' and puts his Audi keys in prominent positions in the middle of the table when he goes to the pub.
Bowen said: "Its a fine piece of German engineering, she's got 147,000 miles on her. But it'll go round the clock twice that car and that's what you pay the £1,800 for.
"Sometimes people ask me how I'll get somewhere and I say 'I'll be bringing the Audi'. Sometimes I say it anyway even when people don't ask me.
"I saw one of the geeks from school the other day who's a partner in a legal firm or something. He's driving a brand new Nissan Qashqai he paid for with cash but I'm the one with the £1,800 Audi I'm paying off on exorbitant APR rates, so if you're thinking of Uni and student debt then you can use me as a case study for success.
Bowen added: "Its convertible too, well it would be if the rust wasn't there. But it's a nice sound bite for when I'm talking to women who are a decade younger than I am."
Pete's friend Rob Gray said: "We all took some part time jobs in a call centre when we were 18 and he's just surfed the industry ever since. I say 'surf' I mean he's been falling off a paddle board on a waveless Swansea Bay.
"He's very loud in that car, maybe he has to be because of the damaged exhaust, but he wants to make everyone aware he's there and that his car has an Audi badge on it."
Bowen continued: "My Audi's a bit like me, doesn't really age. It needs a bit of touching up every now and then but like the moisturiser I slap all over my face, there's ways to make it shiny and new.
"I'm going to get personalised plates on it, then to the naked eye it'll be brand new.
"When they called the area where the call centre I work in the 'Enterprise Park' they had people like me in mind. I've got the job, the car and the ability to cry wank myself to sleep at night."
